Oct 16, 2015· Not infrequently I find myself needing to mill features that have a corner radius where one surface meets another. I've also noticed that bull nose end mills seem more rugged than the basic flat end mill, since it seems that every time I trash an end mill it's because I've chipped a corner.

Dec 29, 2009· Important consideration for a ball end mill is feed rate. Along with that decreased surface speed toward the center goes increased chip load. Start your feed at half what you would use for a similar straight cutter in the same material, at the same rpm.
An end mill is a type of milling cutter, a cutting tool used in industrial milling applications. It is distinguished from the drill bit in its application, geometry, and manufacture. While a drill bit can only cut in the axial direction, a milling bit can generally cut in all directions, though some cannot cut axially.
Ball End Mills have a hemispherical tip used to machine rounded details, such as the metal bearing grooves found in machines. Also called Ball Nose End Mills, they are used extensively in manufacturing tools & dies, and machining complex three dimensional contours with a smooth finish. End Mills | Milling. Guhring is somewhat unique amongst carbide end mill manufacturers in that Guhring produces its own carbide rod, which is the substrate material for all Guhring carbide end mills. This ability to control the quality and supply of carbide rod gives Guhring carbide end mills longer and more repeatable tool life and performance.
Ball end mills create a round-bottomed groove in a workpiece. Square end mills cut a flat-bottomed groove with 90° inside corners. Corner-chamfer and corner-radius end mills make a flat-bottomed groove with chamfered or rounded inside corners. Chamfer mills are used to chamfer or bevel the edges of a …
