Re: ATLAS Lathe Help!! One end is stuffed in a hole in the "cup" - item 55 - from which it picks up oil, the loose end wraps part way around the leadscrew from underneath and is tucked into the threads so it can serve two purposes: Feed oil to the leadscrew, and wipe swarf from the leadscrew.
May 22, 2015· The Atlas mills originally came with an end mill holder. I have one but it's still in the crate with the mill and in any case, it probably only goes up to 1/2" shank diameter (maybe someone who has one handy can comment). 2MT end mill and cutter holders are available up to at least 3/4" shank.
Many horizontal mill manufacturers refer to the "ram" as an "over arm". On the small MFC horizontal mill, Atlas calls it a "support arm". I see it as "six of one" and "a half dozen of the other" or "A rose by any other name would smell as sweet". Steve Haskell

Feb 10, 2010· I'm parting out my Atlas MFB Horizontal Milling Machine, all the parts are listed on Ebay starting at .99. I'm getting rid of this one so I can buy one with the front arbor support that attaches to the table. I wish I had known this when I bought this one, my mistake is your gain.

For that mill I have added a Rusnok head for vertical operations so I have the best of both worlds. An Atlas is one of the few horizontal mills that you can pick up and carry if you are a strong guy...try that with a larger mill.

When I bought my atlas mfc horizontal mill the dude had it idler belted to that exact same lathe on the other side his bench. One motor ran two machines it was pretty cool. I don't know if that was a factory option or something custom but I have a feeling it's from the same 1940s line of machines.
